Our recent projects include commercial and residential developments including the multi-award-winning re-development of Coastal House, the Headland Hotel & Spa, the innovative eco-development of 6 beach cottages in Widemouth bay, Bude and the restoration of a listed residential building in Dartmouth.

RIBA Award for Coastal House

Stripped back to bare its thick stone walls, with externally insulated slate-clad facades, this early-twentieth century house has seen a complete reconfiguration of its internal volumes and a transformation of the visual and physical connections with the surrounding coastal landscape. 

Previously raised on a plinth above a basement, the ground floor has been lowered to the level of the surrounding ground, elongating the existing openings. With three floors spread over the north end of the house connecting to two floors to the south, each space has a distinct volume & ceiling height, with the central stair giving clear views through the whole house across three axes.

Headland Hotel & Spa, Newquay

The Headland Hotel is a 4 star luxury hotel in Newquay, Cornwall and has Cornwall's only 'Five Bubble' rated spa, originally built in the late 19th century and designed by the renowned Cornish Architect, Sylvanus Trevail. Phase 1 of the re-development of site has recently been completed, including the sensitive renovation and renewal of the Hotel's Spa and Gym facilities.

JE Stacey was delighted to win the LABC Small Commercial Development Award 2014 for  “building excellence in the delivery of outstanding construction and workmanship” and receive a Special Commendation from the prestigious Cornish Buildings Group Awards 2014.
