Atlantic View Holiday Cottages

Construction

Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this project required very careful and sensitive planning, design and construction throughout.

The Atlantic View Beach Cottages development was conceived by leading Cornwall based Architects, The Bazeley Partnership.

The cottages replaced existing outdated buildings and were designed to be as sympathetic to the beautiful surroundings as possible. Incorporating the very latest in green credentials – including solar thermal panels, air source heat pumps and a green roof system, the cottages took 9 months to complete.

We worked carefully with all the key stakeholders, sourcing the most practical and sympathetic materials. The cottages are brick built with stone facings and timber cladding, curved sedum roofs planted with sea thrift, (a common local flowering plant native to the North Cornwall coast) which blend effortlessly with the natural surroundings. Second story balconies and seating area were constructed using timber cladding and decking, curved stainless steel and glass balcony rails that enhance the captivating views.

The cottages were cut into the natural elevation of the site in order to minimise the visual impact of the development.

The development won the Michelmores Property Awards in 2016.
